Injured Plushenko claims gold

這是Yahoo UK的標題

寫得非常明白 Plushenko身上有傷 不過為了拼金牌還是排上四圈跳

這場比賽之後 他還要到慕尼黑接受膝蓋的小手術呢

以下是相關報導:

Evgeni Plushenko put a troublesome knee to the back of his mind to post a new free skate season's best and beat Artur Gachinski to win men’s gold at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships.

The 29-year-old has been the talk of championships in Sheffield having been given clearance to compete at them at the start of January despite not possessing the required qualifying score.

He comfortably came through the preliminaries but had to make do with second place to training partner and fellow Russian Gachinski after the short programme on Thursday.

Plushenko stated afterwards that he has a knee injury that will require surgery, ruling him out of the World Championships in March, but he once again stole the show in the free skate.

The three-times Olympic medallist posted a season’s best 176.52, as did Gachinski - but, with his 161.47 and the lead after the short programme just 0.09, Plushenko came out on top.

Kostner wins fourth European gold

Kostner, the European champion in 2007, 2008 and 2010, put herself in the perfect position to win a fourth career title after posting a score of 63.22 from her short program on Friday.

That gave her a slender lead over Finland’s Kiira Korpi, who was awarded 61.80, and she ensured that no-one was going to take gold away from her this time having had to settle for silver last year.

Kostner, who has two European silvers and a bronze to her name, scored 120.33 for her free skate for an overall winning total of 183.55 ahead of Korpi – second after the short program.

New York Times報導

EUROPEAN TITLE TO PLUSHENKO Evgeni Plushenko of Russia produced a career-best performance to beat his protégé Artur Gachinski and win his seventh European figure skating title in Sheffield, England.

The 2006 Olympic champion, Plushenko compiled a compelling routine to “Tango de Roxanne” from “Moulin Rouge” to score a personal-best 176.52 points in the free skate and a total of 261.23, his highest overall mark.

Plushenko’s breathtaking display included a quadruple jump — a feat he contended he could not perform this weekend because of injuries to his back and left knee.

I did a little bit of history in figure skating today,” an overjoyed Plushenko, 29, told the crowd.

Gachinski, 18, led Plushenko, his training partner, by 0.09 after the short program but finished 14.96 points behind in second. Gachinski scored 161.47 points in his free skate for a 246.27 total.

Florent Amodio of France, the defending champion, took the bronze with an overall score of 234.18.

With the spectators at Motorpoint Arena rising to their feet, Plushenko — dressed in a glittering black outfit — finished his routine with repeated fist pumps.

Even with Gachinski and three other skaters to come, Plushenko, the greatest male skater of his generation, knew the gold was again his.

I’m proud of myself, believe me,” said Plushenko, whose first European gold came in 2000.

Plushenko is the only living male skater with three Olympic medals. Having started his senior career in 1997, he will try to compete through the 2014 Olympics on home soil in Sochi.
